ALPINE FONDUE AND STARLIGHT DESCENT

After the slopes have quieted and the mountains have embraced the tranquillity of twilight, embark on an exclusive journey aboard the Sunburst Express chairlift, leading you to the enchanting fondue at the Sunburst Bar + Eatery.

The centrepiece of the fondue experience is, of course, the fondue itself. Design your customized plate, choosing from a bountiful display of gourmet specialties that meet various dining preferences to take the evening to greater heights; sip hand-selected wines and beverages from the local area. The interactive nature of fondue encourages a sense of togetherness, making it an ideal choice for sharing unforgettable moments with loved ones.

After a delectable dinner, an enticing finale awaits. Stepping out into the crisp alpine evening, you’ll be greeted by the pristine beauty of the freshly groomed 5 Mile run. With the help of a head torch and a guide, you’ll click into your bindings and descend back to the warm glow of the village lights, while a myriad of stars blaze overhead in the crisp mountain air.

Fondue is not merely a pop-up restaurant; it’s a destination for those seeking an extraordinary mountain dining adventure. With its snowy setting, gourmet specialties and local offerings, Fondue promises to transport you to a world of indulgence and unforgettable memories, topped off by the thrill of carving down your private ski run!
Come and savour the essence of mountain dining with every bite, sip, and snowflake.

It’s up to you if you want to make the change, but I would suggest removing fat biking and swapping it for snowmobile tours. Fat biking isn’t that popular, meanwhile, the snowmobile tours have been taken over by Mountain Man Adventure (dog sled company). This means it’s a commissionable product and they have bought a new fleet of economically efficient sleds (the guides now ride electric sleds). They have also added a new tour which they are calling ‘date night’.

We are releasing a travel trade newsletter soon that will have this information but here’s a quick insight into what’s new this winter, as well as some further details on MMA and the snowmobile tours.

Powder Ventures Ski & Snowboard Cross Course

Thanks to a partnership with local excavation company Powder Ventures, Sun Peaks Resort has built a permanent ski and snowboard cross course on Sundance Mountain opening winter 2024-25. The Powder Ventures Cross Course will be one of few in Canada built of dirt. Most are built out of snow each winter season, as has been the case in Sun Peaks since 2019. The permanent course will significantly reduce the reliance on early-season snow, snow-making resources, and snowcat operating time, allowing for an earlier opening with great conditions. The course development also contributes to overall sustainability using fewer resources required to create the course each year. Construction is underway and will be completed by the end of summer 2024.

Mountain Man Adventures New Snowmobile Fleet & Tour

Taking steps toward continued sustainable business practices Mountain Man Adventures (MMA), who currently operates snowmobile tours in Sun Peaks has replaced its entire snowmobile fleet with both new, fuel efficient gas and electric snowmobiles.

Guests will now ride the 2025 Skidoo Expedition Sport. These machines couple agile, precise handling with industry-leading features such as comfort-focused suspensions, and updated, efficient Rotax engines. Guides will be riding the new 2023 Taiga Nomad Electric snowmobile. With best-in-class EV technology, Taiga’s fully electric snowmobiles are helping preserve the purity of the great outdoors.

Guests can try out these new snowmobiles during one of MMA’s daily snowmobile tours, or on their new Date Night Tour. This new tour isn’t only for couples, but friends and family wanting to capture the most dramatic sunsets by snowmobile over vast Sun Peaks views, or endless expanses of stars as you return by headlights. Journey out to the quaint McGillivray Lake Outpost for a luxury charcuterie box from Ohana’s Deli. The cozy cabin is the perfect setting for an intimate moment or a platform for rehashing bold moments from the slopes.

DOG SLED TOURS

Mountain Man Dog Sled Adventures offer tours through the Sun Peaks backcountry on private trails.

Learn everything you need to know about dog sledding tours in Canada, before heading out on your exhilarating dog sled adventure at Sun Peaks.

All sleds are guided. Wear winter clothing with good winter boots or dress as if going skiing. Ski boots are not permitted, but snowboard boots are acceptable. Gloves/mittens and a warm hat are necessary. Hand warmers and sunglasses/goggles are also recommended.

FAT BIKING

Another fun activity for you to partake in to enjoy the fresh mountain air and beautiful surroundings. Similar to regular mountain bikes, fat bikes are intended for off-road cycling with wider, oversized tires to handle the snow.

Note that Fat Biking on shared use Nordic trails is only permitted when the temperature is below 0°C and if new snowfall does not exceed 5cm. Please review all usage requirements/restrictions listed below.

Enjoy a spin on our Valley Trail network which winds from the village centre down and around the west end of the resort, and right up through the east village area. More experienced riders can tackle the new Family Man Loop for a fun singletrack experience close to the village. For a longer ride you can also venture out on a designated fat bike loop on the Nordic network (Village, McGillivray Lake, and Raven Return). Please note, Fat Bikes are only permitted on Nordic trails that have been specially designated as shared use. Check out the map below for more information on all three routes.

Please review all of the following information before getting on your bike to ensure the enjoyment and safety of yourself and other guests.

SNOWSHOE RENTALS AND TOURS

Explore the extensive snowshoe trail system at Sun Peaks Resort! Either connect with one of many snowshoe tours or venture out on your own.

Along with your snowshoe day trail pass and snowshoe rental, you will receive a complimentary trail map and an interpretive guide booklet. The guide booklet will help you choose the trails to match your level of expertise and describes points of interest such as the snow cave, bird feeding station, and identification of animal tracks.

A reservation is not required for this activity. Guests should dress in warm winter clothing. Waterproof winter boots, snow pants, jacket, toque and gloves are strongly recommended.

Trail network only available to guests on snowshoes due to the winter conditions of the trails. 2024-2025 snowshoe rentals are available daily from the Activities Sales Desk located in the Village Day Lodge.

TUBE TIME

With its curving lanes, Tube Time is a ride unlike any other lift-accessed tube park.

Guests ages 3+ are welcome and tubes are provided. Tickets are sold in 2-hour increments, every hour, with a maximum of 20 people per time slot (tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis).

Purchase your tickets at the Activities Desk, located in the Village Day Lodge. The tube park is accessed via the carpet lift located beside the Village Platter Lift.
